Last week was dead week here, so I spent the week editing student papers and getting ready for this week (finals). I got really bummed out, because I didn’t actually lose any weight last week. I’ve been losing about one to one and a half pounds per week for almost a month. Even with that, since I’ve started, I’ve only lost about six pounds. I’ve got almost twenty left to lose on this milestone.
See, I’ve got about a hundred pounds to lose, so I’m doing it in roughly twenty-five pound increments. Anyway, I’ve been feeling a little down, because it takes so long (which I know it should and all, but still). I haven’t really been working out this week, so I’ve been trying to keep to the lower calorie count. It hasn’t worked too well, truth be told.
This week’s been pretty stressful, mostly grading and giving exams. Anyway, I went to dinner with some friends tonight, and I carefully planned the meal before I went. We went to Chili’s, and I got:
Lighter Choice Sirloin (with broccoli)-250 Calories
House Salad with Ranch-330 Calories
And Unsweetened Tea-0 Calories
I was surprisingly full when I finished. As I was talking with my friends after dinner, I told them how down I was, and one of them said something that totally made me feel better. She hasn’t seen me since I started, and she said that I seriously looked smaller. She thinks I’ve lost more weight, it’s just being masked by some of the awesome muscle I’ve built. I know it’s silly, but it did make me feel better.

what I think: “Damn that teacher!”
what I say: “Well, college standards are very different.”
